Wellness + Weight Loss Update
Please note: this was originally posted over the summer. To date, I have now lost 24 lbs, I’ve also lost 5 inches off my waist, and gained a sense of empowerment and confidence around this process that I have never experienced before in my entire life. I have maintained my weight loss all while enjoying wine, dinners out, and a bustling social life, and have had zero guilt about any of it. I’m getting incredible results and continuing to lose weight while still living my life, and improving my mindset. Say what!? If you missed my initial post on why I have decided to drop some weight and re-frame my thoughts around weight loss in general, check out this post here. To make a very long (25+ year!) story short, I have had an incredibly unhealthy relationship with my body for most of my life. Basing my self-worth on the number on the scale, sabotaging myself time and time again when it came to being healthy, and continuously finding myself in a desperate place. After getting real with myself, and seeking support from a registered dietician nutritionist who lost 100 pounds herself and has kept it off for years, I have been able to totally transform the way I view the process of losing weight, which in the past had always been such a deprivation-based, miserable experience.
This is certainly in large part to the way this nutrition program is structured, but I’d be remiss if I did not mention the support group that I co-created with my friend Andrea Crowder. Andrea introduced me to this program, and after seeing the shift not just in my body but my mindset after just a few short days, I knew I would want to share this with everyone. We launched Rebel Body Babes, which is a wellness community for women who prefer approaching weight loss with desire vs. discipline. We meet daily in our private Facebook group, and in just about 10 weeks, I have watched that space transform into one of the most nurturing, informative, supportive places I’ve ever been a part of online. Andrea and I have major plans for Rebel Body Babes that go beyond the Facebook group, but for now, we’re indulging in that space and cultivating a sisterhood for all the women we’re leading on this journey.
I am personally in there every single day sharing my own weight loss updates, recipes, affirmations, mindset shifts, meal ideas, and also answering questions and offering advice and support to everyone in the space. It’s basically like having me as your coach every day. YES – I am that committed to this community.

I also think its important to share a few non-scale victories that I’ve experienced over the past 10 weeks that are worth sharing. Because we all know it’s about so much more than the number on the scale:
Wearing jeans again. They had become so ill-fitting and uncomfortable lately that I stopped even attempting to wear them. I’m happy to report I’ve not just been able to wear jeans again, but look and feel fantastic in them. I have a hefty American Express statement to prove it (LOL).
Feeling energized and excited about my workouts! You ladies know I love SoulCycle, but I feel as though I’ve unlocked another level to a video game recently: I can suddenly ride better, faster, and with more oomph. I feel energized by my rides rather than exhausted. This is 100% due to the way I’m fueling my body, as well as my attitude toward my health in general. I rarely cancel a class – in fact, I am counting down the hours until my next one!
Loving how I look in photos. This. is. huge. I’m really sure of myself in so many areas of my life, but the body image thing has been a struggle. Lately, I’ve been really loving how I look in photos. My husband snapped a shot of me the other night and I didn’t ask him to re-take it or stand in some weird angle to make me look skinny. He took the photo one time. Once! And I was so into it that I looked for every chance I got to show it to people. That’s priceless.
PS – check out these mini abs coming in! I guess they really are made in the kitchen because I haven’t done a single crunch!? Week 1 as compared to Week 5! The gut is gone! (Hallelujah)
Using the power of my mind to expect success. It’s no secret I have been an avid believer and practitioner of the Law of Attraction for the past 10 years. I have been able to program my mind for success in every area of my life: career, money, relationships – it’s about time I began using it for weight loss and achieving my ideal healthy body. Inside Rebel Body Babes, we talk extensively about becoming energetic matches for our dream bodies. We share affirmations, mantras, and exercises to creative positive pathways in our minds for weight loss. I love nerding out with these girls and watching all of our success unfold together.
Shopping my closet! I had outgrown a lot of my favorite outfits after putting on weight over the past year or so. Getting to shop my closet again and wear my favorite pieces (and discover that they’re actually big on me now!) has been a treat. I love fashion. Having more options and getting to play with my style again has been such a gift.
Sitting down and not readjusting my top 39428042 times. After gaining weight, I started to feel so self-conscious when I’d sit down. Is my shirt tugging at my waist? Are my rolls showing? My tops were tight and I felt so uncomfortable. Eventually, I started wearing really oversized tops to avoid that situation altogether and that made me feel even worse. Who wants to walk around in a tent!? I’m happy to report, I recently noticed myself just sitting down the other day. Just. sitting. down. No pulling, tugging, or shifting my outfit. Freedom! It’s truly those little things that makes a huge impact. Feeling liberated in my own skin. What a feeling.
I also want to show you ladies this side by side. The photo on the left was taken on April 13,2018. I found it on my camera roll and I do not even recognize myself. And it’s not just my size. It’s the sadness in my eyes. The frustration. The look of being so uncomfortable in my own bones that it’s undeniable.
The photo on the right was taken on June 15, 2018. With the exact same phone. At the exact same angle. Just 8 weeks later. Just 5 weeks into my new nutrition plan. It’s incredible what we are capable of.
Its important to note than the woman on the left is JUST AS worthy as the woman on the right. She’s just as loveable, beautiful, and strong. The difference between these 2 photos is honesty with myself. I have learned more in the past 2 and a half months about my body and mind than in my ENTIRE life of dieting (I joined weight watchers at the age of 11 and have literally been on a torturous diet of some sort ever since. I’m 38 for the record).

In the 2B mindset program, Ilana explains why we need certain foods (protein, veggies, fiber-filled carbs), and when to eat them. She empowers you to create your own recipes, but also provides a TON of delicious ones. She educates you on how to fill your plate and eat the foods that work for YOUR body. This wasn’t rocket science for me, but at the same time, it felt like it. I cannot even explain the amount of “a-ha!” moments I have had already. She encourages you to eat to feel full. She lets you have wine! Her only suggestion? Track it all. Write it down. I’m using a pretty pink journal to track everything that goes in my mouth – because as a life coach, I know how important accountability is. I’ve even been taking it a step further and not just writing down my food, but making little notes about my mood and energy level, and let me tell you – I feel fucking fabulous.
