Fitness Style File: What’s In My Gym Bag
It’s no secret that I love SoulCycle. 4 days a week, you’ll find me in my workout gear, with my big ole vintage Chanel bag slung over my shoulder, heading off to class. But you might be surprised to know that I spend most of my off days in workout gear, too. Outside of a special night out or an event, I am rocking my spandex and Nike’s on the regular and I’m doing it with pride. First of all, I live in New York City, so I walk everywhere. And second of all, who doesn’t want to feel super comfy 24/7? I know you feel me on this. Lucky for us, athleisure is a thing, and it’s here to stay. Just ask Vogue.
But here’s the thing with workout gear: there is an art to it. There’s a fine line between looking chic and looking shoddy. There’s a way to pull it off where you look polished and put together. I get lots of questions on my workout look, so I thought I’d do a fun little post and share with you guys what’s in my gym bag, and how I rock my athleisure style – or as I like to call it, luxe leisure – whether I’m spinning or sipping champagne. I’ve linked each item in case you want to add any of these babies to your gym tote as well.
Terez leggings. I have a serious addiction to these things. They are the most flattering workout pants I have ever put on my body, and they are always coming out with fun new patterns. I tend to rock all black (with the occasional splash of white, like this brand new graffiti print). Seriously, if you don’t own these yet, you need them. Click here to shop this pair.
Black Nikes. The ultimate chic running shoe. You literally feel like you’re walking on air, and they go with everything. EVERYTHING.
Terez black muscle tank. I own 7 of these bad boys and they are the only top I work out in. They are literally on rotation all week long. Super soft and flattering, and they keep you cool while you sweat. I wear one to Soul and keep a spare in my bag so I can change right after class into a fresh one. I love them because they aren’t tight but they’re still fitted, if that makes sense? Very forgiving in the waist area but you still look sexy AF. Click here to find the style I wear.
Caudalie grape water mist. I spotted this while checking out on line at Sephora one day and was immediately drawn to it. Your skin is so fragile after a workout because your pores are wide open from sweating, so I take my post-Soul face routine seriously. I immediately wash my face with water and then spritz it with this stuff. It’s extremely hydrating and feels like silk on your skin. Grab it here.
Tom Ford Black Orchid perfume. My absolute favorite scent. Sexy, clean, and mysterious. If you don’t wear this perfume, get on it. A little spritz après workout and you’re good to go.
Anastasia Dipbrow. I never put on makeup after I work out, because honestly your skin looks so good with its natural glow, I don’t think its necessary. The one thing I’ll do is touch up my brows. I have super sparse eyebrows, and I am actually thinking about getting microblading done. But until then, I fill them with this. It works so well and makes them look really natural.
Louis Vuitton toiletry pouch. I carry my makeup and skincare in this pouch. It’s stylish and high quality. I’ve had a ton of makeup pouches in my life and I will say one thing – you get what you pay for. If you want something that is not going to get beat up and stained and look like crap inside your bag, invest in one really good piece if you can. I found the same one I have pre-loved for you right here.
Chloe sunglasses. Let’s be real, after a workout, I need a few. These glasses are my current obsession. They are big enough to hide behind and high fashion enough to elevate the look of any outfit. Shop them here.
Last but not least, my gym tote! I use a vintage Chanel overnight bag. I am sure it gets a lot of eye rolls, but I love it. To me, your personal style should shine no matter what you’re wearing or where you’re going. And I am a vintage Chanel girl through and through. I also don’t believe in saving your “good stuff” for special occasions. If I have a beautiful handbag, I am rocking it whenever and however I please.
You don’t have to carry a designer handbag to the gym, but if you can afford to splurge, I say why not? Mine is very rare (I believe it’s from the 90’s) and I grabbed it as soon as I found it because I knew it wouldn’t last. I haven’t been able to locate it again, but if I do, I will update this post. But there are soooo many gorgeous ones out there. Here’s a beauty I have my eye on. I looooove this one, too. If you go for vintage, just make sure you do your research and buy from a reputable site like the ones I showed you.
If those are way out of your budget, you can rock something chic like this. Backpacks are majorly in style right now, and this one is $30 bucks. I mean, hello! $30 bucks? This one is beautiful too, and has a very Chanel-esque vibe to it with the quilting.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek!
