How to Step Into Queen Mode

What have you done for you lately?

Yes, you! I can bet my Chanel 2.55 bag that you have been bending over backwards for everyone around you: your parents, your kids, your partner, your friends. I’ll even venture to guess that you are feeling a bit of….shall we say, resentment for the fact that you are always the one everyone calls when they need something. Am I right?

Think about your car for a second. If you keep driving and driving for miles and never refill your gas tank, your car dies. You get a quick warning, but never an apology. That car just stops working until you fill the tank again.

Well don’t you think we need to fill our tanks, too? I’m always amazed at how obsessed we are about recharging everything in our lives except for ourselves. We carry our cell phone chargers around in our purse to make sure that we plug in before our precious lifeline dies. Hell, I know I’ve even stopped off in a Starbucks to drink a coffee I really didn’t need just to get some juice to my iPhone. God forbid I miss a few minutes on Instagram!

So why is it so hard to make sure WE “fill up” so to speak? I’m not sure, but I do know how important it is, and I’m here to be your little reminder.

This weekend, I want you to think about how you can shift into “Queen Mode” and start taking care of YOU. Consider me your permission slip for self-indulgence. Can you book a pedicure? Cancel those dinner plans you really don’t want to go to anyway? Pick up a great book (ahem…) and sink into a bubble bath to read a few chapters? Stock your fridge with nourishing, delicious foods instead of ordering greasy Chinese takeout again?

All of those things may seem frivolous, but they are anything but. In fact, they are crucial to your health and well-being.

Taking care of yourself is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
